About this Site

The site was built to have a space for me to learn, experiment and look out for how a product is built. This site also helps me present my work beyond the CV and Linkedin profile. I applied product management principles to create this site based on personas and what value they could get out from my site. I have tried to sequence the pages in a way that helps you to navigate through my site easily. This is how my journey of building this site looks like

• Hosting and Domain

Brought domain name from Hostinger and also the hosting rights.

• WordPress and Woocommerce

The site is built on wordpress as Content Management System and Woocommerce was used to enable the capabilities of ecommerce with products, basket, product description page, product listing page, wishlist, account, and payment system. The entire site is a combination of portfolio and products as skills and built right from scratch.

• Plugins

Since the site was built from scratch, various plugins were needed to build a site with various capabilities including editing capabilities for making pages look better and with additional capabilities to divide the content into various formats.

• Home Page

The home page consists of a hero image which introduces the visitor about the objective of the website and who portfolio they are viewing. Next I included the featured products and ability to connect quickly.It also consists of featured blogs.

• Header

The header consists of the pages which are necessary to provide the information to the visitor and at the same time helpful in SEO. 

•  Footer

• Portfolio

The portfolio consists of information about me and my work experience. It has a visual impact as well as some links to skills which connects my work experience with the skills I mention around Product Management.

• CV

This page has my latest CV which can be downloaded quickly for quick review or people can contact me if they would like to connect with me on any topic of product management.

• Skills

This section provides the skills same as the products are presented. The products are mixed and matched as downloadable, simple, with price, without price, on sale. The skills have all the descriptions which defines of how I have used them in my work. This helps visitors know more about my work rather than mere keywords. These skills also have reviews for visitors, so that they can let me know if this skill is important or not. To do this I had to define the product details with product data management, so that all relevant product details can be captured on the page.

• Contact

People can quickly connect with me for any doubt around product management and I would be more than happy to help out.

• Account page

This page allows users to check their account and details, however, they are just for demo purpose. You can check your orders if any under this section.

• Generative AI

The chatbot which I used here has been trained based on Generative AI. The chatbot has limited knowledge around my site and can answer the questions such “does Shubham has knowledge of data?” and similar other questions. The chatbot has limited tokens for chatting and may be finished for some users. 

• GDPR rules

This site follows GDPR rules of asking permission with cookies and allows users to delete their data if needed including checking which all data is tored about the user.

• SEO

The pages have been enhanced with keywords for SEO optimization. both external and internal links have been added at various pages. This will be enhanced further to do on page and off page optimizations. 

• Technical

There were many issues which came in when creating this website including server and other errors. It was fun to debug these since I am not a technical product manager, however by following steps I could resolve them to present this site. It also helps me to connect with development team to understand their concerns and help them resolve them and get the product out.

• Data driven

I looked at the data from the various plugins which collects data about visitors, their actions, orders, payments, locations and various other dimensions which helps me in keeping an eye on the features and optimize my site for SEO or keywords or visitor navigation flow improvmeent or anything related to product management principles. 

• Search

The last but one of the most important part of the site is smart search. This search enables the user to search across products (Skills), and content across site with images of the products so that user can quickly connect with results.

So overall, it has been a great learning experience and I created this website within a month, which I did not know was so easy to create. So learning never stops!
